Team Universal Autosports started the 2013 CCR Championship season by dominating the Sebring event with multiple wins in both the 360 and 430 class.
Our drivers and crew set the pace early and were rewarded with several podium finishes led by Mark McKenzie in the 430 class and Peter Castellana in the 360 class. Both accomplished drivers were blistering fast all weekend and clinched the first place spot in each race. In doing so, they each set track records in their class. Mark broke the 430 class record with a lap of 2:08.9 and Peter set the new 360 class record lap at 2:14.5!
One of the many highlights of Sebring, in addition to the wins and records mentioned above, was the hard fighting battle of Joe Rubbo. Joe finished third on the podium to Andrea Taurino’s second place for the first race on thursday. Friday’s race saw a street brawl where Joe managed to steal a second place finish from Andrea on the last turn as the two came upon traffic. The two drivers are now tied in points for second in the championship, each with 15 to Mark McKenzie’s 20 points.
All of our drivers did exceptionally well and we are honored to be able to help them do their best in this new, exciting season. With a start like this, we can’t wait to see how the rest of the season plays out!
